Advances in computer science
Dec. 15th, 2005 02:27 pmA nice computer just called me up and asked if I support the God-ordained institution of marriage as being between one man and one woman (it also claimed to be a concerned mother). While I didn't bother to listen to the rest of the computer's message, it did leave me thinking:
1. Gee, I thought marriage was a civil institution in a country which has a separation between church and state.
2. OK, if we're going to do what God ordained, are we going to put all the other things that God ordained into law? (i.e. honor your father and mother, no eating pork or shellfish, no wearing fabric blends, if a woman's husband dies she has to marry his brother, etc)
3. What a breakthrough if a computer can be a concerned mother! Maybe we can eliminate the controversy by having marriage be just between a male computer and a female computer. Then we wouldn't have to deal with emotions, sexual orientation, and all those messy human things.
