Darn it, you pesky chipmunk!
Sep. 6th, 2008 08:48 pmThere, do I sound enough like Elmer Fudd? A chipmunk has figured out that tomatoes are good to eat and is climbing the bush and gnawing on the tomatoes before I get to them. I guess I'll need to start spraying them with chili pepper and garlic.
We went out to a really nice greenhouse near Chagrin Falls to buy a key lime bush to replace the one that died several months age. They were inexpensive so we got two. Both are covered with lots of flowers and tiny little limes. I think there are key lime pies in the future.
The greenhouse was in an area so ritzy that they don't even let peons like us know it exists. We were following GoogleMaps' directions, made the turn onto the road the greenhouse is on, and found ourselves facing a sign saying PRIVATE ROAD!!! It looked as though our directions must be wrong. I couldn't find anything useful on the map but B had the sense to call and explain where we were.
It turns out that our directions were completely right, the greenhouse is just located a mile down a private road with no sign or anything indicating that it is there. As we drove back to it we passed a french provincial castle and several incredible estates. Some people really have money. The greenhouse had a great assortment of really nice plants but I don't think they're expecting a lot of walk-in business.
We ran some errands, had some luck at garage sales, and then grilled cheeseburgers and corn-on-the-cob for dinner. A very satisfying day.
