Today in history
Jul. 7th, 2008 08:46 pmOn this great day (the 80th anniversary of the commercial production of sliced bread, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sliced_bread), word is spreading that pro-Iraq-war author Christopher Hitchens has concluded that waterboarding is indeed torture after voluntarily undergoing the procedure (he's a better man than I am). It seems that anyone who wants to argue that the U.S. does not engage in torture would be in a very weak position unless they undergo waterboarding themselves and honestly conclude that it really isn't torture. I wonder when George W. will volunteer.
