According to recent reports, the pope's red leather shoes cost about $650 a pair.  This got me to thinking about about the cost of a nifty red uniform the next time I play Grand Inquisitor.  Here are my current estimates:

Budget version:

Cassock (Long red robe buttoning down the front in Polyester or poly/cotton) - $275
Mozzetta (red elbow-length cape, fiber content not specified) - $198
Broad-brimmed red hat (the traditional broad-brimmed Cardinal's hat in no longer worn but I found a decent approximation) - $58.85
Clerical shirt (black would probably look best, cotton/poly) - $40
Collarette and collar buttons - $26.75 + $3.40
6" gold crucifix on gold chain - $907
black gloves - $61.95
black socks - $3
red shoes - $69.95
devil boxer shorts (why not?) - $15 (on sale)
-------------------------------------------------------------
Total $ 1658.90 (excluding tax)

Quality version:

Note that the estimate above is based on buying basic, off-the-rack, items in synthetics when available.  If the cost of buying quality items is proportional to the cost of the pontif's shoes, we'd be talking about approximately $16,000 per inquisitor for quality uniforms in natural fibers.  Of course, we might be able to get a quantity discount if we were outfitting a squad.
