I remember when ...

You know you're old when you start saying "I remember when ..." but I do remember when the Republicans believed in a balanced budget, in controlling government spending, in minimizing government intrusion into Americans' private lives, etc.  They delighted in portraying Democrats as big spenders with no fiscal responsibility who wanted the government to meddle in our private lives. 

All of that (except for the propaganda) faded away long ago (roughly when the Republicans came into power).  However, it still is funny to hear Barney Frank pointing out how the party that keeps trying to claim the moral high ground has abandoned the principles it claimed to value and has become the party of "big government."  See http://www.house.gov/frank/internet_gambling00.html
