Bedlam, but good bedlam
Feb. 10th, 2007 08:12 pmImagine a dozen teenage girls in the kitchen improvising an Italian dinner without recipes...
The theme for S/V's birthday party was "Improv" so guests spontaneously decorated her birthday cake when they arrived (including a BPF that appeared mysteriously on it), played improv games, watched SCTV, etc. For dinner they played "Stir Crazy," a game where you divide into two teams, spin a spinner to choose ingredients or swap ingredients with the other team, then use the ingredients you end up with to cook dinner without using recipes. It was just as chaotic as you'd imagine but everyone had a great time and it ended up being a good dinner. The girls ended up with french bread pizzas, lettuce roll-ups with a beef filling, breaded zucchini, "Loch Ness Lasagna" (made with curly noodles and fresh tomato sauce, artichoke salad, and more. Even with a vegetarian, a Muslim, and a girl who keeps Kosher, everyone was happy with the meal.
No one got much sleep last night but they all had a great time.
S/Z's friend from Pittsburgh stayed all day, we had our family birthday celebration, and I got some work done on my rubber-band arquebus. Tomorrow we're going to the Girlyman concert. It's quite a weekend.
