Oh no! He's going on about religion again.
Sep. 6th, 2005 09:55 pmReligious broadcaster Pat Robertson claims that he has used the power of prayer to divert destructive hurricanes from his Virginia Beach headquarters (see Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Robertson "Robertson claims to have used the power of prayer to steer hurricanes away from his companies' Virginia Beach, Virginia headquarters. He took credit for steering the course in 1985 of Hurricane Gloria, which caused millions of dollars of destruction in many states along the east coast. He made a similar claim about another destructive storm, Hurricane Felix, in 1995. In 2003, Robertson called on God to prevent Hurricane Isabel from hitting Virginia Beach.")
This leaves me with the question of whether Robertson has also used the power of prayer to divert hurricanes from other cities or whether he only extends his protection to Virginia Beach.
If Robertson uses prayer to spare his own city and fails to extend protection to his neighbors, does he share some responsibility for the destruction? Afterall, he claims to be able to prevent the destruction but apparently did not do so.
How would he justify a decision not to extend his protection to neighbors up and down the coast? Is it every Christian for himself? If prayer has the power to divert hurricanes, should we each pray for our own city to be spared and not worry about our neighbors?
